A few years ago, at the end of 2021, our Company, responding to the call of a group of people with a vision to create the first Ronald McDonald House® in Cyprus, decided to participate by offering a small contribution to this very important project.
Thus, Cosmos Insurance “adopted” room number 5, wanting to also offer a “home away from home” to families with children who are hospitalized.
Today, the numbers and the excellent work of the RMHC Cyprus team make us feel proud and emotional since up until 17/04/2024:
- 32 families were able to stay close to their child, for 403 nights, in room number 5.
- 40 nights of comfort was the longest continuous stay.
- €60,450 were saved by these families.
Main reasons for stay: neonatal complications, premature infants, oncology reasons, respiratory problems, surgical procedures.
A few words about the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) Cyprus.
RMHC® Cyprus was founded in 2014 and is a registered non-profit organization (Reg. No. 349).
RMHC Cyprus created the pediatric cardiology clinic at Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia, which was also the base of the Ronald McDonald Family Room® until 2021.
The second major project of RMHC Cyprus is the Ronald McDonald House® located near Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.
The House – Ronald McDonald House Nicosia was completed in 2022 and is located near Archbishop Makarios III Hospital. The House hosts families from all over Cyprus whose children are hospitalized in medical clinics in the capital.
The Ronald McDonald House® provides a welcoming space where families can consider their home and stay close to their hospitalized child, at no cost. Our House was created based on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on their child’s health.
Families are stronger when they are together. By staying at the Ronald McDonald House®, parents can focus on their child’s health, communicate better with their child’s medical team, and more easily follow the treatment plan when needed without worrying about where they will stay overnight, where they will get their next meal, or where they will rest.
The House provides Families with:

- Lounge with TV
- Playground
- Free homemade meals
